iPhone 14 Pro models may come with 48MP camera, tipster claims

Apple iPhone models may come with a 48MP camera lens next year and a periscope lens in 2023. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that these iPhone camera upgrades will help to boost Taiwanese manufacturer Largan Precision’s market share, revenue, and profit.
According to him, the 48MP camera will be limited to iPhone 14 Pro models only. It will offer 8K video recording on iPhones that currently offer 4K video recording. These high-resolution 8K videos will also be suitable for viewing on Apple’s AR/VR headset, he added. Apple is expected to launch its AR/VR headset next year.
In a previous report, Kuo said that iPhone 14 Pro models may come with support for both 48MP and 12MP output. Apple is said to use pixel binning process to achieve the same. The technology is already in use on Android smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Using the pixel binning process, iPhone 14 Pro models may be able to shoot 48MP photos in bright conditions and 12MP photos in low-light conditions.
In a research note today with TF International Securities, Kuo said that at least one iPhone 15 model may come with a periscope lens in 2023. This will enable increased optical zoom on iPhones.
