Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appears before ED in Delhi for questioning in ‘Panama Papers’ FEMA case: Officials

The Panama Papers FEMA case revealed how offshore firms are used to stash the wealth of the world’s rich and powerful. Previously it was reported that the actress had sought another date for questioning. Previously, on two different occasions, Aishwarya had sought for adjournment. Now as part of the ongoing probe, she will have to depose before the agency’s Delhi office.
According to reports, the leaked documents were originally obtained by the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung. Almost 12,000 of these fresh documents are linked to Indians, including celebrities and businessmen on the list.
Big stars, including Amitabh Bachchan’s name, had cropped in the Panama Papers case which is also being probed by the Income Tax Department.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was last seen in ‘Fanney Khan’, is all set for a comeback after four long years with filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s highly-anticipated drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The actress will reportedly essay a double role in this film which is based on iconic writer Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical fiction novel of the same name. Set in the backdrop of the Chola Dynasty, the epic novel has been adapted for the big screen by Ratnam along with writer B. Jeyamohan, who has penned the dialogues for ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
